BELIEF

At first I believe everything I am told

All the news I hear and stories of old;

Then with discernment I question what I hear,

I learn to check facts and ask without fear.

Then I assemble a belief system that works for me

Based on what I know for sure,

what I experience and see.

But then there are answers

I cannot prove throughout—

Some I will accept but some still cause doubt.

Belief allows me to reach behind the curtain

To ask questions and keep searching

until I can be certain.
